Chase Briscoe has a chance to continue an improbable NASCAR Cup Series postseason run for Stewart-Haas Racing if he makes it through Saturday night at Bristol Motor Speedway.

But the good news for Briscoe is that he’ll start the first elimination race of the postseason sitting above the cutline. Briscoe has a slim six-point advantage on the competition, but after starting in a hole because of a crash at Atlanta Motor Speedway, it’s a better situation than he initially thought he’d be in at this point. On that day, Briscoe felt he would be in a must-win position.

The No. 14 team rebounded with a 43-point haul at Watkins Glen. And even better, Briscoe was the highest-finishing playoff driver.

“I feel good about it,” Briscoe said this week about potentially advancing.
