The quote from Brian Kelly we heard was it would take $250 million to get him out of South Bend, Indiana. Well, it appears that Mrs. Kelly is perfectly fine with a little less than that.
The number being reported by Matt Fortuna and Brody Miller of The Athletic is 10 years and north of $100 million with incentives. At roughly a deal of $15 million per year gives him more than what Ed Orgeron made in 2021. Or any other coach for that matter.
With the contract talks out of the way, for the moment they can focus on other aspects.
LSU's offer to Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly is a 10-year deal that will take him north of $100 million with incentives, sources tell @BrodyAMiller and me.

Brian Kelly to LSU confirmed. @PeteThamel first. Hearing salary will be in $15 million per year range. DC Marcus Freeman obvious ND interim but also could be auditioning. Is this Matt Campbell's time?

The big moves that need to happen next involve the assistants. An early report from On3 states that running backs coach Kevin Faulk and defensive backs coach Corey Raymond will be retained on staff. The coordinators are just as important, if not more, but that is a good start. Both are excellent recruiters and key members of the staff.
At this point, Marcus Freeman might be a pipedream as many current players and recruits will likely push to keep him in South Bend. That will be the next topic to tackle in the coming days.
