For the second year in a row, LSU was forced to turn to the transfer portal to fill out its depth in the secondary.
One of the most intriguing players in the latest round of additions is [autotag]Denver Harris[/autotag], a former five-star recruit in 2022 who signed with Texas A&M but left after a freshman season in which he appeared in just five games and faced multiple suspensions.
He landed at LSU, where he’ll look to wipe that slate clean and compete for a starting spot this fall. On Thursday, coach [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] detailed the progress he’s made in that regard.
“Denver is in that process of learning how to do things a little bit differently than he had been doing it before,” Kelly said. “It’s becoming clear to him what he needs to do on a day-to-day basis to find the field here. He’s got a lot of ability, but it’s more in this program than just having athletic ability. He’s got to do the work in the classroom, he’s got to do the work in terms of the day-to-day details and making good choices, good decisions, and he’s making progress there. But it’s a journey for him right now.”
It’s clear the program laid out expectations for Harris both on and off the field. He missed some time earlier in camp dealing with a “personal matter” following his involvement in a fight during practice, but he’s back and seems poised to make an impact this season.
