Kelly shared earlier this week as well as during his interview with Dan Patrick that he wanted to offer his former programs the opportunities to play at Notre Dame since they offered him the opportunity to be their respective head coaches.
It didn’t seem Kelly envisioned Cincinnati being a perennial top-10 program when the game was scheduled, “I’m kind of regretting putting that offer out to Cincinnati” Kelly joked during the interview.
Notre Dame will welcome Central Michigan, where Kelly coached from 2004-2006, culminating in a MAC Championship before he took the Cincinnati job.
