LSU lost starting quarterback [autotag]Jayden Daniels[/autotag] to a head injury in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s 42-28 loss at Alabama.
The Tigers were already trailing by 14 at the time, and the loss certainly can’t be blamed on Daniels’ injury. When he was in the game, Daniels certainly made some plays, but it wasn’t his most efficient outing.
He completed just 15 of 24 passes for 219 yards, and though he did throw two touchdowns, he also had a costly second-half interception when the margin was still at one score. The bulk of his production came on the ground, where he had 163 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.
[autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] said Daniels — like much of the team — was good but not great in the loss.
“I think he’s indicative of what I’m talking about,” Kelly said. “He was good tonight. He wasn’t great. He would like to be considered great every week. He was good. He was good. He was really good. And he’s tough, the runs that he had tonight were you know, outstanding runs that kept drives alive. I mean, if he’s not out there, we were not even in the game. He made a difference. But I’m sure there’s gonna be some things that he would like to do better, as well.”
Daniels’ health moving into next week’s game against Florida will certainly be key to watch, but for now, it’s clear Alabama found a way to slow down this offense in the second half.
