LSU will get an early start when it kicks off its match with Mississippi State at 11 a.m. CT this weekend.
It’s LSU’s first 11 a.m. game since the Tigers faced Arkansas last year. The offense struggled to get it going that day, but a strong defensive performance helped LSU pull out the win.
[autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] said LSU’s preparation will be a bit different than usual this week to make sure the group is prepared for that morning start.
At practice, Kelly said LSU will move straight into the team session so the team gets used to coming out and starting fast.
“We’ll do some things relative to getting our senses awakened earlier on gameday. We’re gonna start with our team meal at 7:20 in the morning,” Kelly said.
Brian Kelly says part of the preparation for an 11 a.m. kickoff this week is diving more quickly into higher-energy, team periods of practice more quickly each day.
Start Saturday with team meal around 7:20 a.m., a little earlier than usual.

LSU’s last trip to Starkville in 2021 was also a noon kickoff. The Tigers prevailed in that one with a 28-25 win. Last year, LSU averaged just 13 points in its two early kicks.
