When you think of Boston, one of the first things that probably pops into your head is the accent, right?
Well, according to soon-to-be LSU Tigers head coach Brian Kelly, Bostonians just don’t have accents.
On Tuesday, during LSU’s game against Kansas State in the Texas Bowl, ESPN had a small chat with Kelly during the game on the broadcast. During his guest segment, Kelly brought up his infamous bizarre accent change during one of his first public appearances to LSU fans in early December. Twitter tore into Kelly’s strange new southern accent pretty hard and since then, it’s yet to make a reappearance.
The weirdest part of that discussion, however, was Kelly’s insistence that Bostonians don’t have accents.

Kelly, for what it’s worth, is also a native of the Boston area.
Look, I get that we might not recognize our own accents when we’re speaking because it sounds normal to us, but really… Boston accents aren’t strong That same accent that was, apparently, ranked the second sexiest accent in America back in 2019?
Either Kelly has really bad hearing or his joke just fell incredibly flat.
