[autotag]Jayden Daniels[/autotag] is the best player in the NCAA. As of now, Daniels has the best odds to win the Heisman, just ahead of Bo Nix of Oregon.
The crazy thing is, it takes both Nix and the Ducks running back to even come close to the numbers Daniels has put up this season. Daniels has thrown for 3,577 yards and run for 1,014 yards in 11 games.
For comparison, Nix has thrown for 3,539 yards against worse defenses. Nix has only run for 128 yards and his running back, Bucky Irving has run for 1,002 yards. [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] talked about lobbying for Daniels to win the Heisman after last night’s game.
“I think when I have the opportunity to talk about my players, I’m going to do it,” he said. “And I think I mentioned that and I think in this case, I’m gonna use my opportunities to talk about my player. And I think he’s the best player in college football and every opportunity that I get I’m going to make sure that people understand that. His efficiency, the way he takes over the game. I mean, if you’re on the other sideline, you just kind of, how do you defend him?
“They tried to blitz him, that didn’t work, they dropped eight in the fourth quarter, they just said alright we’re just going to drop eight and that didn’t work. We’ve seen virtually everything this year, from trap coverages, to you know, every kind of configuration, and it just hasn’t worked. So I’m going to talk about him as much as I can.”
Daniels should win the Heisman and it shouldn’t be close.
