When [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] took the podium at SEC media days in Nashville on Monday, one of the most eyebrow-raising exchanges during the question and answer portion had to do with artificial intelligence and its potential uses in college football.
We still have much to learn about the emerging technology, which is expected to have a major impact on a wide swathe of industries. According to Kelly, football is one sector with potential AI applications.
In response to a question from AL.com’s Michael Casagrande, Kelly called AI’s potential in college football exciting and said it could have uses in recruiting and game-planning.
He also said it’s something “we are about to venture into.”
First super-interesting question and answer of SEC Media Days:
LSU's Brian Kelly says Artificial Intelligence is "exciting," has a lot of potential in aiding game-planning and recruiting profile-building. AI is "something we're about to venture into."

It’s impossible to predict exactly the impact AI will have on college sports — or the world, for that matter — but it’s clear we will start to see its implementation sooner rather than later.
