John Gruden resigned on Monday after emails were released to the public that showed the coach using inappropriate language in remarks that disparaged a number of groups.
In his place, special teams coach Rich Bisaccia has stepped up to be the interim head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders.
During his Wednesday media availability, Dolphins head coach Brian Flores was asked to comment on the entire situation.
“I think it’s unfortunate,” Flores said. “Football is a game that brings people together. It brings people from all walks of life together, so you hate to see anything that brings any type of division. At the same time, I believe in forgiveness. I never want to judge anyone on the worst thing they’ve ever said or done.”
Some of the things that Gruden said were truly despicable behavior, and he likely would have been fired had he not resigned. Flores’ belief that people shouldn’t be judged by their worst act is noble, but, in this case, Gruden should no longer be coaching.
