Just a few days after being signed from the practice squad, defensive back Jamal Perry played five snaps against the Jets before suffering a knee injury that resulted in him being carted off the field.
Perry was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, meaning he would miss at least three games, however, Brian Flores announced on Wednesday that the former Cyclone would miss the rest of the season. The coach sounded upset about the injury and expressed sadness for his player.
“Unfortunately, Jamal, that’s gonna be season-ending,” Flores said. “You hate when that happens. He’s been a significant contributor to this team for three years. He’s been on the active, this year he’s on the practice squad, he was back active this past weekend, and unfortunately, that’ll be season-ending.”
Perry’s season-ending injury comes just weeks after veteran defensive back Jason McCourty suffered an injury that knocked him out for the rest of the year as well.
The 27-year-old will be a restricted free agent at the end of the season.
