Brett McMurphy has LSU heading to New Year’s Six in bowl projections entering Week 1

Brett McMurphy has the Tigers facing Texas Tech in the Cotton Bowl.

Aside from a handful of teams who were in action during Week 0 of the college football season last weekend, kickoff for the bulk of the country will begin this weekend.

While we don’t have any actual football to base things on, that doesn’t stop the media from making predictions.

Action Network’s Brett McMurphy has released his updated bowl and College Football Playoff projections entering Week 1 of the season, and while LSU enters the year with CFP aspirations, McMurphy isn’t quite that high on the Tigers.

Still, he does have this team heading to a New Year’s Six Bowl as he predicts LSU will take on Texas Tech at the Cotton Bowl in Arlington, Texas. The two teams last played in the 2015 Texas Bowl, which LSU won 56-27.

Reaching the NY6 would certainly be an improvement from last year’s outcome, but this team enters the year hoping for more as it brings back much of its experienced core.
