Brett Johns vs. Montel Jackson in the works for UFC on ESPN+ 31

A bantamweight fight between Brett Johns and Montel Jackson is in the works for UFC on ESPN+ 31.

A bantamweight matchup is in the works for the UFC’s return to Nebraska.

At UFC on ESPN+ 31, [autotag]Brett Johns[/autotag] and [autotag]Montel Jackson[/autotag] will square off if all goes according to plan. The bout is not yet finalized, but is expected to be finalized soon.

Two people with knowledge of the situation informed MMA Junkie of the targeted booking Wednesday. They asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.

UFC on ESPN+ 31 takes place April 25 at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Neb. The event will stream on ESPN+.

Johns (13-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) and Jackson (9-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) are both coming off recent victories. Johns defeated Tony Gravely by third-round submission in January. The win snapped a two-fight losing skid.

Conversely, Jackson extended his winning streak to three on the same card against Felipe Colares. Prior to that, Jackson defeated Andre Soukhamthath and Brian Kelleher.
