Brett Favre praises Titans’ Derrick Henry, compares him to Randy Moss

“My goodness, this guy is incredible,” Favre says of Henry.

In a recent interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio, Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre marveled at the superstar talent that is Tennessee Titans running back, Derrick Henry.

Favre says Henry reminds him of Hall of Fame receiver Randy Moss for multiple reasons, one of which has to do with his ability to take games over, no matter what the defense is throwing at him (H/T Jim Wyatt, Titans Online).

“I watch Derrick, and he reminds me so much – and this is kind of an odd comparison – but he reminds me a lot of Randy Moss, and how he controlled the game,” Favre said. “The only person that would stop Randy Moss would be Randy Moss. We double-covered him, we triple-covered him, and yet he still made the plays. You put nine guys in the box (vs the Titans), and it doesn’t matter.

“A big comparison to me is they both look like they’re barely running, but they are pulling away from people. I am like, ‘Why doesn’t Derrick show a little pizzazz? And then he runs for 76 yards, and no one can catch him. I am like, ‘My goodness, this guy is incredible.’ When you know someone is going to get the ball, either passing or running, and you can’t stop him, that is when you know you’re pretty good.”

Henry is on pace to once again put up historic numbers in 2021.

He’s on track to lead the league in rushing for a third straight year, surpass 2,000 yards for a second straight year, and is on pace to break the all-time single-season rushing yards record.

“It’s hard to place a value on Derrick Henry, and what it allows you to do,” Favre continued. “You can call a run pretty much any time, and be successful with it.”

Henry will look to keep the good times rolling in Week 7 when the Titans host the Kansas City Chiefs, a team that sports the sixth-worst run defense in the NFL through six games.
