Brett Brown praises Tobias Harris for having a ‘genuine desire to win’

Philadelphia 76ers coach Brett Brown praises Tobias Harris for his desire to win on a nightly basis.

The Philadelphia 76ers were in need of a win following two really lackluster performances on the road. They found themselves trailing in the fourth quarter and they turned to the man they gave a maximum contract to over the summer.

Tobias Harris scored 11 points in the fourth quarter, he had 24 in the second half total, on his way to 34 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Sixers to a 117-106 win over the Brooklyn Nets at home. Philadelphia improved to 19-2 at home on the season and it was mostly due to the fact that Harris was able to come up large.

“I think that there is a sincerity in him as a person and there is a genuine desire to win,” said coach Brett Brown. “You can’t dismiss that, there is a genuine desire to win, and you can see it in his face and his actions in a locker room, it matters and he cares a lot. I think coming back to Philadelphia, we dropped two on the road, we’re still trying to find our feet, I was proud of him.”

Harris had some big plays down the stretch and he even let out a little emotion that you don’t normally see out of the quiet small forward.

“It felt great,” said Harris. “I think all of us, we want to go out each and every night and we want to win every game. So when we do fall short of wins, it’s disappointing for us so just to get out there and get tonight’s win and to feel good and play good as a team and feed of one another was big for us. We’ve just got to keep that rolling and do more of the same.”

The Sixers will remain home for one more against the Chicago Bulls on Friday before hitting the road again for a three-game trip so they need to take advantage of being at home and figure things out. They can find things that they can use to take with them on the road to get wins away from the Wells Fargo Center. [lawrence-related id=23555,23549,23539]
