Breshad Perriman says Bucs finish ‘just a sneak peek’ for the Jets

Former Bucs receiver Breshad Perriman believes his big finish to 2019 is just a sign of things to come in New York with the Jets.

New Bucs quarterback Tom Brady is going to enjoy playing in this Tampa Bay offense, namely because he’ll have wide receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin at his disposal.

Evans earned his sixth-straight 1,000-yard season in 2019, becoming the only player other than Hall of Famer Randy Moss to start his career with six-straight 1,000-yard seasons. For Godwin, it was the first 1,000-yard season of his three-year career, and after earning his first Pro Bowl selection, you can be sure he’s hungry for more.

But one receiver who stepped up big last season over the final weeks was Breshad Perriman. The former first-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens came to the Bucs on a one-year deal, and after both Mike Evans and Chris Godwin went down with hamstring injuries towards the end of the season, it was Perriman who benefited the most.

Over the final three games, Perriman tallied 17 catches for 349 yards and four touchdowns, and had 100-plus yards in all three games, the first time he’d ever hit that mark in his NFL career.

Perriman left the Bucs this offseason in favor of a one-year deal with the New York Jets. And, according to Perriman, his big finish to 2019 was just a preview for the Jets. In a piece by Darryl Slater of NJ.com, Perriman had this to say:

“I think that was just a sneak peek of what’s to come for this season — and many other seasons past this season. That was just a tiny glimpse, and I’m looking forward to building from that little run.”

Too bad Brady won’t have Perriman to throw to next year, but the Bucs could use the upcoming NFL draft to find a new deep threat.
