Another member of the Penn State football family is preparing to play the final game of his college career. Tight end [autotag]Brenton Strange[/autotag] announced on Tuesday, as the team completed its first day working out in Pasadena, California for the Rose Bowl, that he is declaring for the 2023 NFL draft. But Strange also confirmed he will play in the Rose Bowl for his final game in a Penn State uniform.
“I couldn’t be more thankful to have called State College home for the last four years,” Strange said in a released statement on his Twitter account on Tuesday. “Since my arrival I have grown tremendously on and off the field. I’m truly blessed to be a part of the Penn State community.”
“I have decided to forgo my senior season and declare for the 2023 NFL draft,” Strange announced. “I am looking forward to being with the Penn State family one last time and competing in the Rose Bowl.”
Strange has 32 receptions for 362 yards and five touchdowns this season. He is Penn State’s third-leading receiver this season in receiving yards but will be the team’s second-leading active receiver in the Rose Bowl with Parker Washington out (Mitchell Tinsley is the active leader with 528 yards). Washington also declared for the 2023 NFL draft after suffering a season-ending injury late in the regular season.

In addition to Washington, Penn State will also be without cornerback Joey Porter Jr., who opted out prior to Penn State’s bowl destination being confirmed. Offensive lineman Juice Scruggs has also declared for the draft but confirmed he intends to play in the Rose Bowl.
Penn State will face Pac-12 champion Utah in the Rose Bowl on January 2, 2023.
