Brent Venables expected to hire coach he worked with at Clemson as Oklahoma’s new DC

Former Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables is expected to hire a coach he worked with at Clemson.

Former Clemson DC and current Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables is expected to hire a former Clemson coach he worked with during his time with the Tigers.

According to multiple reports, Venables and the Sooners are expected to hire Jacksonville State defensive coordinator Zac Alley as their new defensive coordinator. A familiar face for Venables, Alley worked for four years (2015-18) as a graduate assistant at his alma mater, Clemson. During those years, Venables was the defensive coordinator.

Prior to his time with JSU, he was DC and linebackers coach at ULM in 2021 and co-special teams coordinator and outside linebackers coach at Boise State. He has a lot of experience, but this would be a huge step in the right direction for Alley.

We are now waiting to hear confirmation on the move.
