Brennan Canada Makes SEC Community Service Team

Kentucky’s Brennan Canada makes the SEC’s Community Service Team

The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all 22 league sponsored sports, giving focus to athletes in every sport that gives back to the community and show superior service efforts. Brennan Canada, who is a graduate student on Kentucky’s men’s basketball team, was selected to the team, the league announced Wednesday.

Canada has been a fixture in community service projects in the Lexington area. He has packaged food and children’s lunches for God’s Pantry, served Thanksgiving dinners with the Salvation Army and visited kids at UK’s Children’s hospital. He has also worked with the Ronald McDonald House and the Philabundance.

Canada has also participated in two telethons to help raise money for two natural disasters in Kentucky. He was part of a telethon to raise money for those affected by the floods in Eastern Kentucky in the summer of 2022. On top of that, he and his teammates participated in an open practice that helped raise money for the victims of the floods as well. He was also part of another telethon to help raise money for victims of the tornadoes in the western part of Kentucky in 2021.

Canada graduated in 2022 with a degree in communication and will graduate with a masters in sports leadership in 2024.
