Kaj Sanders committed to Rutgers football on Saturday afternoon. In doing so, he joins K.J. Duff as two commitments from four-star players in the past week.
The Rutgers football recruiting class now stands at 21 commitments with four players ranked as four-stars.
A four-star recruit according to On3 and Rivals, Sanders is one of New Jersey’s top players in the 2024 recruiting. He is a safety at powerhouse program Bergen Catholic (Oradell, N.J.) and is a consensus top-10 player in the state.
His commitment announcement was carried live by Rivals. He picked from a final four of North Carolina, Rutgers, South Carolina and Wisconsin.
“They’ve been recruiting me since I was a freshman, sophomore. They’ve been on me,” Sanders said during his announcement. “I had to put them in.”
The commitment is huge for Rutgers in that it gives the Scarlet Knights a top-tier player from New Jersey’s premier prep football program. Bergen Catholic is ranked No. 24 in the nation by MaxPreps.
It also shows a significant flex of muscle by Rutgers to pull in a player from the Big North Non-Public, which is largely considered the top conference in the state.

Sanders took an official visit to Rutgers in late June. This week, he said that during that visit, the Scarlet Knights made a move in his recruitment.
Apparently, it was a move all the way to the top.
“Things went really well on my visit. They made a big move in my recruitment,” Sanders told Rutgers Wire this week.
“They made that move because of all the love they’ve been showing me on my official.”
