It was a quiet Monday on the transfer portal front for LSU, but it got some major news in the form of a huge retention.
On Monday night, star Tigers receiver [autotag]Kayshon Boutte[/autotag] announced that he will not be entering the 2023 NFL draft and will instead return to LSU for his senior season.
The New Iberia, Louisiana, native had a breakout season in 2021 before an ankle injury cut his campaign short after six games. He entered this season with major expectations and was seen as a potential first-round pick — as well as one of college football’s top receivers.

That’s not exactly how things panned out for Boutte. In 11 games this season, he had just 48 catches for 538 yards and two touchdowns (compared to the nine he had in just over half as many games the prior season). He wasn’t a featured player in the offense, which almost certainly took a toll on his draft stock throughout the season.
Boutte will return to what should be an extremely talented receiving corps next year looking to realize the potential that led to him being viewed as a potential top-15 pick entering the year.
