BREAKING: LSU earns a No. 6 seed in NCAA Tournament, will play Iowa State in first round

The Tigers are heading to Milwaukee, where they will likely draw Wisconsin with a win in the first round.

The Tigers are officially going dancing once again.

LSU was announced as the No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament on Sunday. The team was placed in the Midwest Region and will take on No. 11-seeded Iowa State in the first round in Milwaukee on Friday. The Cyclones finished the year 20-12 (7-11 Big 12) and bowed out in the first game of the Big 12 Tournament against Texas Tech.

Kansas is the top seed in the region, and SEC foe Auburn is also in the region as a No. 2 seed — one of six total SEC teams to make the tournament.

With a win over Iowa State, the Tigers would draw the winner of the contest between No. 3-seeded Wisconsin and No. 14-seeded Colgate. The Badgers were regular-season Big Ten co-champions, but they were upset in the first round by Michigan State in Indianapolis this week.

The Tigers enter March Madness with a lot of uncertainty, as coach Will Wade was fired on Saturday. They will be led by interim head coach Kevin Nickelberry during the NCAA Tournament.
