With less than a week to the start of the Pittsburgh Steelers season, we decided to look way ahead at a new 2021 mock draft. Our friends over at Draft Wire have a new two-rounder out and we need to talk about the Steelers picks.

Samuel Cosmi | OL | Texas

In the first round they have the Steelers taking Texas offensive tackle Samuel Cosmi. Watching Cosmi play, the part that really stands out is his athleticism. The Steelers are used to having big, mauling tackles who are more about power than speed but Cosmi flips that on its head. He doesn’t play with the power of some of the other top tackles in the draft but his movement skills are elite.

Jayson Oweh | EDGE | Penn State

If you haven’t heard much about Penn State edge rusher Jayson Oweh yet, just wait. He was relegated to second string last season but this year he should be showcased in the Penn State defense. Oweh might have the quickest first step in the draft and his closing speed is legitimately elite coming off the edge at 257 pounds.

Overall this draft wins for the Steelers. Pittsburgh has three starters on the offensive line who are free agents at the end of the season. With the Steelers cap situation, there’s no way all of them return. The same goes for Bud Dupree on defense. Even if Alex Highsmith is as good as advertised, depth is a must.
