SOUTH BEND, Ind. – It seems like it’s a great day for everybody. Fighting Irish Wire is on location at Notre Dame Stadium for the annual Blue Gold Game. Thousands of people will fill the stands for the first Notre Dame football action in four months, and many more will be watching it stream on Peacock. Plus, while it’s a cold day in South Bend, there’s no threat of rain at all.
However, one should keep in mind that this will not be a regular football game. The Blue Gold Game is the culmination of spring practices, and everybody is on the same team at the end of the day. To that end, nobody wants to be put at serious risk when the time they really will be needed is during the regular season. Some players are too injured to suit up for this game, but for those who will be, safety is a big priority.
So instead of this being a football game with all the regular rules, here is what to expect:
