At just past 7 p.m. MT on Sunday night, Vic Lombardi of Altitude Sports tweeted that Colorado Buffaloes offensive line coach Mitch Rodrigue had been fired by Karl Dorrell.

Soon after Lombardi’s tweet, Brian Howell of BuffZone confirmed that Rodrigue had been effectively released.
The firing comes one day after the Buffaloes’ offensive line allowed six sacks, four QB hits and 12 tackles for a loss in a 26-3 loss to Cal.
Rodrigue was in his second season with Colorado. He was hired in March of 2020 after spending two years coaching high school football in Alabama.
While Dorrell decides on a replacement, multiple names have already been thrown around on Twitter. One potential in-house candidate mentioned by Howell was quality control coach William Vlachos, who was an All-American center at Alabama in 2011.
Another name brought up on Twitter was former CU and NFL offensive lineman Matt McChesney.
