This afternoon the Big Ten has announced that if the Conference participates in fall sports for the 2020-2021 season it will only be within the Big Ten. Schedules will likely be adjusted in the next few weeks for the Big Ten only season as they continue to monitor the situation with COVID-19.
The announcement applied for all fall sports including men’s and women’s cross country, field hockey, football, men’s and women’s soccer, and women’s volleyball.
The new schedule could drastically change the season for Wisconsin football and eliminates the big out of conference game for this season, Notre Dame. The purely Big Ten season could give Wisconsin more strength of schedule with the potential to play Penn State or Ohio State, who they weren’t scheduled to play this year.
Nicole Auerbach, the Athletic reporter who broke this story, has also reported that sources say the PAC-12 Conference will be following the Big Ten in the coming days.
