Breakdown of Tennessee’s 2020 defensive, special teams recruiting class by position

2020 Tennessee football recruiting.

INSIDE LINEBACKER

Len’Neth Whitehead, 4-star from Athens, Georgia

Whitehead is a powerful, raw athlete from Georgia that played both sides of the ball very well during his time at Athens Academy. The 6-foot-2, 230-pound prospect will arrive at Tennessee with a willingness to play running back, but it remains to be seen where he will end up.

Pruitt and his staff are no strangers to cross-training players, and the No. 11 inside linebacker in the 2020 class may have too much potential on defense to join a crowded running backs room.

Bryson Eason, 4-star from Memphis, Tennessee

As one-fourth of the Whitehaven Trio, Eason was an all-state player for Whitehaven and finished as a finalist for Mr. Football in Class 6A as a senior.

The No. 16 inside linebacker in his class, Eason could be a welcome addition to a group of inside linebackers that will be top-heavy in 2020.

Martavius French, 4-star from Memphis, Tennessee

A former Arkansas commit, French rounds out the Whitehaven Trio from Memphis. Another player Pruitt believes to be versatile on the second level of the defense, French rates as the No. 17 inside linebacker in the country.

Linebacker may be the strongest position group of this 2020 class, and the three teammates from Whitehaven are a big part of that, thanks to former running backs coach David Johnson.
