DEFENSIVE LINE

Omari Thomas, 4-star from Memphis, Tennessee

Thomas was a huge get for Tennessee, and one of the final recruiting moves in Memphis by running backs coach David Johnson before leaving for Florida State. The No. 10 defensive tackle in the country won the Mr. Football award in DII-AAA, and comes to Tennessee with his Briarcrest Christian teammate, running back Jabari Small, who also finished as a finalist for the award.

The 6-foot-4, 312-pound lineman who also played high school basketball was pursued heavily by Auburn, Texas A&M and Alabama before choosing Tennessee.

Dominic Bailey, 4-star from Baltimore, Maryland

The lone defensive player out of four early enrollees in Tennessee’s 2020 class, Bailey rated as the No. 21 defensive tackle in the country with the ideal frame at 6-foot-3, 293-pounds.

Wanted by Georgia, Florida, Notre Dame, Penn State and several others, Bailey was part of the Under Armour All-America game in January. It will be interesting to see how he fits into a defensive line unit that returns all of its 2019 contributors.

Reginald Perry, 3-star from Fairfield, Alabama

Most college coaches would likely offer Perry from just taking one look at him, standing at 6-foot-6, 301-pounds. Just the No. 61 defensive tackle in the country, Tennessee gets a raw prospect out of the heart of Alabama.

Perry’s offer list was not as long as Bailey’s, but did have schools such as South Carolina, Kentucky and Nebraska vying for his signature.
