Brawl breaks out between Florida and Missouri before halftime

The Gators took a 20-7 lead over the Missouri Tigers into the locker room at the end of the first half but not before a fracas broke out.

The Gators were about to take their 20-7 lead over the Missouri Tigers into the locker room at the end of the first half.

Until they weren’t.

On the final play, quarterback Kyle Trask was hit after throwing the ball. No flag was thrown.

Coach Dan Mullen wasn’t happy. He confronted both the officials and Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz, and what resulted was an all-out brawl between both teams.

A number of players on both sides threw punches, and the officials issued an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty to every player on both squads, meaning that another unsportsmanlike infraction in the second half for any player would result in ejection.

In addition, a total of three players were ejected from the game for their actions. Florida defensive lineman Zach Carter and linebacker Antwaun Powell were booted in addition to Missouri linebacker Tre Williams.

It’s likely the three will face suspension.

Though only three players were ejected, more than three threw punches. It’s very possible that when the SEC reviews footage of the brawl this week, more suspensions will be issued.

This is bad news for the Gators, who draw No. 4 Georgia in Jacksonville next weekend in a game that will likely decide the winner of the SEC East.
