Braves fan devastatingly bites the dust in home stretch against ‘The Freeze’ after tripping at finish line

Another historic collapse in Atlanta!

The Freeze strikes again!

It’s been some time since we’ve seen a dramatic, down-to-the-wire finish of “Beat The Freeze” at Truist Park. If you’ve forgotten, “Beat The Freeze” is the Atlanta Braves’ mid-inning promotion wherein a fan races against a spandex-wearing sprinter — The Freeze — from foul pole to foul pole with a head start.

On Monday, this Braves fan nearly had The Freeze beat to rights. After a strong start, The Freeze was gaining ground fast but it seemed like the fan was going to cross the finish line before him. And then, disaster struck, and the Braves fan fell mere feet from the finish line as The Freeze overtook him for the win.

That’s one devastating way to lose a race! After seeing daylight at the end of the tunnel with a win in sight, to collapse like that is just heartbreaking.

But for good measure, here’s another angle of this Braves fan beefing it.

And of course, here’s The Freeze’s post-race comments via his Twitter.

Yeah, I’m not sure how you come back from that if you’re that Braves fan. Good job, good effort though!
