Brandon Allen, Bengals Advance to Super Bowl 56

Former Arkansas quarterback Brandon Allen and the Cincinnati Bengals surprised the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

At least one former Razorback will have the chance to win a Super Bowl.

Former Arkansas quarterback Brandon Allen and the Cincinnati Bengals surprised the home-standing Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday when kicker Evan McPherson nailed a 32-yard field goal in overtime to defeat the Chiefs, 27-24, at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

This was the second time in as many weeks that the Bengals called on McPherson to win the game at the last second. In the Divisional Round against the Tennessee Titans last Sunday, McPherson was called on to kick a 52-yard field goal as time expired to grab the 19-16 win.

This will be the Bengals first Super Bowl appearance since 1989, and their third overall.

Allen, a back-up quarterback for the Bengals, has completed 107 passes for 1,074 yards and seven touchdowns in two seasons with the Bengals, playing in 11 total games. In his five-year career, Allen has seen the most field time with Cincinnati. Allen appeared in only three games with the Denver Broncos in 2019, and in zero games between 2016-2018 with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Los Angeles Rams
