Two quarters into his NFL debut, former Washington Huskies edge rusher Bralen Trice suffered an unfortunate injury that will keep him out of his entire rookie campaign with the Atlanta Falcons.
While rushing the passer in a preseason game against the Miami Dolphins, Trice landed awkwardly and had to be helped off the field before learning the severity of the injury a few days later.
After selecting him in the third round, the Falcons had high hopes for the 23-year-old pass rusher in his first year, thanks to his extremely impressive motor and ability to get after the passer at Washington. While staying on the field for seemingly every defensive snap, Trice led the country in pressures during both the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
Head coach Raheem Morris had high hopes for Trice’s first campaign. He had him listed as the No. 2 outside linebacker on the team’s initial depth chart behind Arnold Ebikeite and was expected to push the veteran all season for the starting job.
“He has taken everything as far as he can take it,” Morris told reporters before the injury. “He goes out early and hits bags. He’s been exciting.”
Now, Morris will have to wait until 2025 to see what he has in Trice.
