Bradley Chubb thinks Broncos can have a top-5 defense in 2020

Broncos outside linebacker Bradley Chubb says Denver’s defense could rank among the NFL’s best this season.

In his first season with the Broncos, Vic Fangio led a defensive unit that ranked 10th in points allowed (19.8 per game). Denver ranked 12th in yards allowed, which is respectable. Broncos outside linebacker Bradley Chubb believes the defense can rank even higher this season.

“I feel like we could be top five or top 10 in the league,” Chubb said during a Zoom conference call on July 31. “Like I said, we’re in the second year of the defense. Everybody is going to be a lot more comfortable and communication is going to be a lot clearer. We have a lot of playmakers now.”

After bringing in cornerback A.J. Bouye and defensive lineman Jurrell Casey, Denver’s defense should take a step forward in 2020.

“It’s just going to be fun to get everybody back in the building and see how we gel in Year 2,” Chubb said. “Unfortunately, I went down last year with the injury, but me, Von [Miller] and everybody coming back way hungrier and ready to prove something is going to be chaos.”

Chubb and his teammates will get their first opportunity to make a statement when the Broncos host the Titans on Monday Night Football in Week 1. That game will be nationally televised on ESPN.
