Brad Stevens joked that Tacko Fall may be ‘pissed’ at the Celtics

Tacko Fall was in Las Vegas when the Celtics recalled him, forcing him to take a commercial flight to join the team in Dallas.

Tacko Fall was getting ready to walk into an escape room in Las Vegas when he learned that the Boston Celtics were recalling him to join the team ahead of a Wednesday matchup against the Dallas Mavericks.

After dealing with injuries to centers Robert Williams and Vincent Poirier, the Celtics were forced to call upon their two-way rookie center, who happened to be with the team’s G League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws, ahead of the 2019 NBA G League Winter Showcase.

The event brings all 28 G League teams to Las Vegas for a four-day scouting tournament in front of NBA executives, scouts and coaches beginning on Thursday. As head coach Brad Stevens jokingly explained on Wednesday, Fall may have been upset the team pulled him out of Las Vegas.

Tacko is probably pissed at us. Because the one time of the year, you know where he was? They were in Vegas getting ready for the G League [Winter] Showcase. So, we pulled him out of Vegas. … He had to jump on a commercial flight, which, hopefully, we bought a couple seats for him. Can you imagine being the person that’s sitting next to him? Poor guy had to sit in a small plane and get here from Vegas.

Fall is eligible to spend up to 45 days with the Celtics on his two-way contract and has just one appearance in the NBA so far this season. The 7-foot-5 center did not play on Wednesday as the Celtics defeated the Mavericks, 109-103.

The former UCF product has appeared in eight games with the Red Claws in the G League, averaging 13.6 points, nine rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game. Fall set the Red Claws franchise record with 14 offensive rebounds on Nov. 25 against the Memphis Hustle.

The Celtics play next on Friday against the Detroit Pistons.
