Brad Stevens hyped up the Celtics crowd prior to playing Tacko Fall

Tacko Fall received a standing ovation after checking into his first Celtics home game Friday night against the Pistons.

With the Boston Celtics sporting a healthy lead, rookie Tacko Fall played in his second NBA game Friday night during a 114-93 win over the Detroit Pistons.

Celtics head coach Brad Stevens first started to hype up the home crowd for Fall with just over six minutes to go in the fourth quarter. After a few seconds, Stevens called his 7-foot-5 center into the game for Enes Kanter at the 4:31 mark.

Fall recorded five points, two rebounds and one block off of the bench. The two-way rookie received a loud, standing ovation upon entering the game and even garnered “M-V-P!” chants at the free-throw line. The Celtics faithful even cheered each time he touched the ball.

Fall recently joined the Celtics after a stint in the G League with the Maine Red Claws following injuries to centers Robert Williams and Vincent Poirier. Stevens joked that Fall was probably “pissed” the Celtics recalled him from the Red Claws after the team was in Las Vegas for the G League Winter Showcase.

Tacko is probably pissed at us. Because the one time of the year, you know where he was? They were in Vegas getting ready for the G League [Winter] Showcase. So, we pulled him out of Vegas. … He had to jump on a commercial flight, which, hopefully, we bought a couple seats for him. Can you imagine being the person that’s sitting next to him? Poor guy had to sit in a small plane and get here from Vegas.

Although Fall was forced to take a commercial flight from Las Vegas to join the Celtics in Dallas on Wednesday, the former UCF product likely wasn’t upset after making his second appearance in the NBA on Friday night.
