Boston Celtics rookie Carsen Edwards has spent just over a week playing with the Maine Red Claws in the G League but will soon re-join his NBA club.

Celtics head coach Brad Stevens told reporters on Friday that the second-round pick will play with the Red Claws through the end of the NBA G League Winter Showcase that began on Thursday in Las Vegas.

The G League Winter Showcase includes all 28 G League teams in a four-day tournament in front of NBA executives, scouts and coaches at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.

On Thursday, Edwards tallied 23 points on 10-of-20 shooting from the field and added eight rebounds, four assists and four steals in a loss to the Canton Charge.

The appearance marked his third of the season with the Red Claws as he is averaging 22.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, four assists and 3.7 steals per game. He scored a G League-high 28 points on Sunday.

As injuries begin to pile up, Stevens stated that he would like all of his healthy players to be with the team starting in January. The Red Claws return to action on Saturday to close out their trip to Las Vegas.
