An edge rusher from the Lone Star state committed to Arkansas on Tuesday, defying a prediction that he would land elsewhere.
[autotag]Brad Spence[/autotag], a three-star EDGE from Klein Forest High School in Houston, Texas announced that he would be committing to Arkansas over Cal and rumored favorite, Texas.
Prior to his commitment, On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine gave the Longhorns a 32% chance to land Spence. Although the prediction was not overwhelming, On3 projected Arkansas to just miss out on Spence.
In a trend that is becoming rare, Spence did not commit to the program that he last visited. Spence visited Arkansas on June 10, then visited Cal the following weekend. Despite Cal getting the final official visit, Spence elected to commit to Arkansas.
Spence led Klein Forest in tackles last season, making 72 stops with 11 being for loss. His junior season performance was good enough to earn him a spot on the first team all-district team.
Spence is the No. 61 ranked EDGE in the country, and the No. 133 overall prospect from Texas for the 2023 cycle according to 247sports’ composite ranking. Spence becomes the 22nd commit for the class of 2023, and the fifth from the state of Texas.
