The Philadelphia 76ers are a team that needs some help following a very disappointing 2019-20 season where they came nowhere near their expectations. They could use another playmaker and, of course, some shooting to help their roster.

One idea that has popped up is that the Sixers trade for Chris Paul as it appears the Oklahoma City Thunder are looking to begin a rebuild. The Sixers have also begun discussing even going after the star guard.

However, if a Paul trade does not work, how about a lesser-known player who can get it done like Mike Conley of the Utah Jazz?

Bleacher Report has come up with another trade suggestion involving Philadelphia going after Conley. The deal would be Conley and Georges Niang to Philadelphia for Tobias Harris, Shake Milton, the 21st pick in this draft, and a 2022 unprotected pick.

B/R on Conley’s fit in Philadelphia:

The veteran floor general might be slowing down, but he’s capable of perking up an offense that doesn’t need him in a featured role. He took a while to find his form during his first season with the Utah Jazz, but by the playoffs, he was all the way back (19.8 points, 5.2 assists and a 48.4/52.9/86.4 shooting slash).

He can run with Ben Simmons or slow down for Joel Embiid, plus Conley holds his own defensively. If the fit doesn’t work, his $34.5 million salary comes off the books next summer. Georges Niang has only a non-guaranteed $1.8 million salary, which seems a reasonable number for a shooting-needy team to pay a career 38.7 percent sniper from deep.

Conley had a bit of a down year in Utah averaging 14.4 points and 4.4 assists with 3.2 rebounds, but he did shoot 37.5% from the floor which would be a great addition to the team. He did boost his play in the playoffs averaging 19.8 points and 5.2 assists and he shot 52.9% from deep in Utah’s 7-game loss to the Denver Nuggets in Round 1.

As far as giving up Harris and Milton, the Sixers would probably like to get out of Harris’ contract. He is owed roughly $149 million on his contract over the next four seasons and while they like Milton, he is a young player. The Sixers are a team trying to win right now and Conley helps more in that regard than Milton does. Niang shot 40% from deep fir Utah this season while breaking out so he could add what Harris brings to the floor from a shooting aspect. [lawrence-related id=38039,38035,38026]
