Minnesota running back Dalvin Cook will reportedly hold out until he receives a reasonable deal.
The Vikings have some options when it comes to their starting running back. Bleacher Report recently mulled over one of those options: trading him. The outlet discussed several NFL players and the likelihood that their teams would trade them.
The outlet does not think the Vikings are likely to trade away Cook. Here’s what it said about the options:
“Cook can choose to sit out the 2020 campaign, but he would miss out on a season of accrued service and take a huge risk with an uncertain 2021 salary cap as a restricted free agent.
Still, a holdout seems more likely than a trade because backups Alexander Mattison and Mike Boone have just 160 combined carries, though the Vikings and Cook have the means and incentive to strike a new deal.”
I think this is pretty spot on. The Vikings should want to get a deal done based on Cook’s skill and the effectiveness of the offense when he’s in the backfield.
