B/R: Brooklyn Nets’ biggest fear is having unsuccessful 2023-24 season

Giving the Houston Rockets a valuable 2024 first-round pick is the Brooklyn Nets’ biggest fear according to Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report.

This offseason is critical for the Brooklyn Nets as they look to make their team as strong as possible for the 2023-24 season and beyond. According to Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report, Brooklyn’s biggest fear is having a bad year next season and making their 2024 unprotected first-round pick a valuable one for the Houston Rockets.

Thanks to the trade between the Rockets and Nets that brought James Harden to Brooklyn, Houston has Brooklyn’s first-round pick for 2024. Given that fact, the Nets would want to do everything in their power to at least make the playoffs so that the pick would be out of the lottery and be less likely to burn them in the future.

Brooklyn has two first-round picks for 2023 so they can either use those packages for players with the potential to make an impact in next season’s rotation or possibly trade those picks in an effort to bring back a star-level player. Either way, the Nets should return virtually the same team as last season assuming that they are able to re-sign restricted free-agent wing Cam Johnson to make the team more formidable.
