Bowling Green at Toledo: Three things to know
- Bowling Green heads 25 miles north on Interstate 75 to meet Toledo in the 85th installment between these bitter Northwest Ohio rivals. Bowling Green won last season at Doyt Perry Stadium by a 20-7 count as a 26.5-point underdog, snapping a nine-game losing skid in this series. The Falcons haven’t won in Toledo since Nov. 28, 2008, when the team was coached by Gregg Brandon.
- There wasn’t a lot to cheer about for Bowling Green last season, as it was just 3-9 SU/ATS. The win over its bitter rival Toledo was probably the Falcons’ highlight of 2019. QB Matt McDonald, a transfer from Boston College, should give the Falcons improved play under center. He has a legit downfield threat in WR Julian Ortega-Jones, and TE Quintin Morris can also make plenty of noise.
- Toledo missed out on a bowl last season, in large part due to its ugly loss to the Falcons. The Rockets have plenty of firepower returning, however, and they will challenge for a division title. RBs Bryant Koback and Shakif Seymour are back to provide a tremendous one-two punch, and the defense returns seven starters.

Bowling Green at Toledo: Odds, prediction, betting lines and picks
Prediction
Toledo 36, Bowling Green 20
Money line (ML)
Toledo (-1000) is just too expensive, and there is no way to justify spending $10 for every $1 won. Plus, Bowling Green (+600) won outright as a 26.5-point underdog last season, proving there is never a sure thing. AVOID.
Against the spread (ATS)
BOWLING GREEN (+21.5, -110) will keep this one within three scores, as this underrated rivalry is usually fairly tight. In fact, the underdog is 5-1-1 ATS in the previous seven in this series. The road team is also 5-1-1 ATS across the past seven installments, so look for the Falcons to fly back home cashing as underdogs.
Over/Under (O/U)
UNDER 62.5 (-110) is the way to go in the Battle of I-75, which is the name of the trophy these two now play for after years of fighting for the Peace Pipe Trophy. We saw a total of just 27 points in the 2019 installment. We’ll see a few more points on Wednesday night, but a lack of practice, chilly temperatures and a bitter rivalry should see the defense outplay the offense, at least early on. Plus, the Under is 10-3 in the past 13 meetings.
