Bowl Projections, College Football Playoff Predictions: Week 6

What are the bowl projections and the College Football Playoff calls after Week 6 of the college football season?

2022-2023 College Football Playoff Projections

Welcome to the curveball.

Does Alabama look rock steady to you?

Three games against good teams – Texas, Arkansas, Texas A&M – three rough battles with two coming down to the final moments that could’ve gone either way. What’s next?

At Tennessee, Mississippi State, at LSU, at Ole Miss, and with Auburn to close after a date with Austin Peay. The call is that Bama will lose one of those but still get to the SEC Championship – and then lose to Georgia.

Georgia might misfire somewhere along the way, too, so go with this – the loser of the SEC Championship will have two losses and be out.

Ohio State will continue to rip through everyone, and even if it doesn’t it’ll get in with one loss. Put in the Buckeyes, and at this point put in Clemson – it might lose one game, but it won’t give up two.

The SEC Champion is a lock, so for the fourth spot – and remember, the College Football Playoff has never taken a two-loss team …

Pac-12 Champion.

Here’s the other key call this week. The Ducks will get by UCLA at home after having a week off to prepare. At Cal, at Colorado, Washington, Utah, at Oregon State. They’ll win the rest of the way to get to the Pac-12 Championship at 11-1 vs the winner of USC vs UCLA.

Oregon wins and gets the fourth seed at 12-1.

Also remember that outside of 2014 when all the Power Five champions finished with one loss – Big 12 co-champs Baylor and TCU were out – no other one-loss Power Five champion has been left out of the College Football Playoff.
