Baylor vs Ole Miss
RB Abram Smith, Baylor: The Baylor running game might have been bottled up by Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Championship, but Smith was able to pound out 63 yards to get over 1,400 for the season to go along with 12 touchdowns. He combines with Trestan Smith to give the Bears a killer 1-2 punch.
S Jalen Pitre, Baylor: The Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year did a little bit of everything for the Bear D. The veteran who has seen it all, he came up with 63 stops and picked off two passes, but he real worth was as a game-changing performer with 15.5 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles.
QB Matt Corral, Ole Miss: The possible top 15 overall draft pick might be taking off early for the next level, but not before he finishes the drill in the bowl game. There’s a disrespect thing happening after not being included among the Heisman finalists despite completing 68% of his passes for 3,339 yards and 20 touchdowns with four picks, and with close to 600 rushing yards and 11 scores.
LB Chance Campbell, Ole Miss: He might not have been as flashy as DE Sam Williams – a top pro prospect on the line – but the 6-2, 240-pound thumping linebacker was right there among the team’s best defensive players with a team-high 99 tackles with six sacks and 12.5 tackles for loss.
