Michigan State vs Pitt
RB Kenneth Walker, Michigan State: While he says he’s not opting out, does he need this game to up his draft stock? Not really, but the 5-10, 210-pound back will get a chance to answer the snubbing by the Heisman voters who didn’t make him a finalist after running for 1,636 yards and 18 touchdowns.
WR Jayden Reed, Michigan State: Kenneth Walker might have been the breakout star in the great season for the Spartans, but Reed also blew up with a team-high 53 catches for 946 yards and eight scores. Explosive, he averaged close to 18 yards per catch, ran for a score, and returned two punts for touchdowns.
QB Kenny Pickett, Pitt: He bet on himself and won. Okay as a senior in 2020, he would’ve likely been a mid-to-late round NFL Draft pick, but he came back for a fifth year, threw 42 touchdown passes, ran for five more, and cranked up over 4,300 yards on the way to an ACC Championship. Now a whole lot of NFL fans – hello, Steelers – are going to be very interested to see him one more time.
DT Calijah Kancey, Pitt: The passing game took center stage this year, but under head coach Pat Narduzzi, the pass rush has been among the best in America over the last several seasons. The 6-0, 275-pound Kancey isn’t huge, but he’s a First Team All-ACC performer for his ability to get behind the line with seven sacks and 13 tackles for loss.
