Central Michigan vs Boise State
QB Hank Bachmeier, Boise State: Banged up throughout his first two years, he was able to get through the season connecting on 63% of his passes for close to 3,100 yards with 20 touchdowns and eight picks. He’s not a runner, and he needs to be a little more consistent, but when he’s on the offense is terrific.
WR Khalil Shakir, Boise State: One of the Mountain West’s most explosive stars, the team’s leading receiver – and strong pro prospect – caught 77 passes for 1,117 yards and seven scores. The offense tries to get him the ball on the move, deep, and every other way possible including for the ground game and as a return man.
QB Daniel Richardson, Central Michigan: The freshman took over the quarterbacking gig early in the season and the offense started to roll from there. The 5-10, 205-pounder is built like a running back, but he doesn’t run. He’s a passer hitting 61% of his throws for 2,374 yards and 23 touchdowns with five interceptions.
RB Lew Nichols, Central Michigan: One of the nation’s most underappreciated backs, all he did was run for a nation-leading 1,710 yards and 15 scores to go along with 38 catches and two touchdowns. The workhorse of workhorses, he averaged over two more carries per game than the field averaging close to 26 per game.
