Virginia vs SMU
QB Tanner Mordecai, SMU: That worked out just fine. The Oklahoma transfer stepped in and cranked up the passing game with 39 touchdown passes with 3,628 yards. He’s good for an interception a game, was held to 66 yards by Cincinnati, and he’s not going to run that much, but he should push for 300 yards.
TE Grant Calcaterra, SMU: A good tight end option at Oklahoma, he transferred over to SMU to be one of the main man for the passing attack. The Mustangs spread the ball around – there are plenty of wideouts who need the ball – but the 6-5, 247-pound Calcaterra will get his share. He caught 38 passes for 365 yards and four scores.
QB Brennan Armstrong, Virginia: He’s got the last name for a quarterback, he’s got the game, and now he’s got a little rest to get right after a slew of injuries. The lefty bombed away for 4,449 yards and 31 touchdowns with ten picks, hitting the 400-yard mark six times for the ACC’s top passing attack.
TE Jelani Woods, Virginia: One of the nation’s best and most talented receiving tight ends, he’s 6-7 and 265 pounds with a great catching radius and NFL upside. He earned All-ACC honors catching 44 passes for 598 yards snd eight scores, with the ability to stretch the field to go along with his consistency.
