Air Force vs Louisville
RB Brad Roberts, Air Force: He’s not all that big and he’s not built like your traditional fullback, but he can pound through the middle of the line and is a bear around the goal line. The 205-pounder leads the team with 1,284 yards with 13 touchdowns as the tone-setter for the ground attack.
CB Tre’ Bugg, Air Force: It’s usually not a good thing when one of your cornerbacks leads the team in tackles, but it’s okay in the Air Force scheme. Bugg came up with 61 stops doing a great job coming up with stops in the open field, and he’s the team’s best cover-corner with two picks and 11 broken up passes.
QB Malik Cunningham, Louisville: When he’s on and making the offense hum, he’s as dangerous as any quarterback in college football. He threw for 2,734 yards and 18 touchdowns, threw six picks, and he ran for close to 1,000 yards with 19 touchdowns. However, passing consistency might mean everything.
LB Yasier Abdullah, Louisville: The defense wasn’t always great, but it had a few terrific players who stood out like CB Kei’Trel Clark – a star before suffering a knee injury – and the 6-1, 235-pound Abdullah. The All-ACC performer made 52 tackles with a team-high nine sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss.
