Houston vs Auburn
RB Tank Bigsby, Auburn: The numbers might not be amazing, but he’s the leading rusher and star of the attack whenever he’s able to get a little room. He ran for just over 1,000 yards and a team-high ten touchdowns, and the team’s top all-purpose yardage back can catch a little, too.
LB Zakoby McClain, Auburn: While he might not be the biggest of defenders, he’s a guided missile of a hitter who’s always in on the play. He led the team with 96 tackles with two sacks and eight tackles for loss, and he became even more of a playmaker when the ball was in the air.
QB Clayton Tune, Houston: It’s the first game of the rest of Houston’s life, with a whole lot of talent coming in, a whole lot of hope after a strong season, and with Tune coming back for another season after throwing for close to 3,300 yards with 28 touchdown passes and nine interceptions. With 250 passing yards or more in five of his last six games, he’s just heating up.
DE David Anenih, Houston: Fellow defensive lineman Logan Hall might have been the best NFL prospect on the Cougar front, but Anenih was able to earn First Team All-AAC honors, too. The stats weren’t eye-popping – 28 tackles, four sacks, nine tackles for loss – but he was always pressuring the quarterback.
