Ball State vs Georgia State
QB Drew Plitt, Ball State: The fifth-year senior was great in the MAC Championship run of 2020 and kept spreading the ball around this season to a deep and talented receiving corps. He’ll run a little bit, but his job is to get everyone involved, hitting 61% of his throws with 17 touchdowns and five picks.
S Bryce Cosby, Ball State: Few defensive backs in college football did more as an all-around playmaker than the fifth-year senior. Cosby made two picks and was second on the team with 101 tackles, and he lived behind the line with four sacks and a team-high 10.5 tackles for loss.
QB Darren Grainger, Georgia State: At 6-4 and over 200 pounds he’s a tall presence who can run, taking off for 523 yards and two scores. Now he needs to be more accurate for the passing game. More than fine as a freshman, he threw 16 touchdown passes and four picks, but he was a bit inconsistent. It’s all there, though, to grow into a top playmaker.
LB Blake Carroll, Georgia State: The Panther defense revolves around a good set of linebackers, starting with a 232-pound veteran who’s all over the field. Carroll made 82 tackles with 5.5 sacks, ten tackles for loss and broke up four passes with an uncanny knack and timing to make the big play.
