Boston Celtics pick up Sam Hauser’s team option for 2024-25, decline Neemias Queta’s

This does not mean that the Queta era in Boston is over, however.

The Boston Celtics have made some decisions about the future of their roster, with reports coming in that the Celtics have elected to pick up the team option on reserve forward Sam Hauser‘s contract, and have elected to not pick up the team option on backup big man Neemias Queta’s contract.

This does not mean that the Queta era in Boston is over, however, with MassLive’s Brian Robb reporting that “the door remains open for a potential return to Boston” should the Celtics’ needs arise and Queta unable to find himself a larger role for guaranteed money on another team.

Hauser’s final contract year will pay him $2.1 million for the 2024-25 season, and Boston and the Virginia alum are “expected to have extension negotiations after the window opens July 9,” writes the Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach.

And while he couldn’t comment on potential deals in a recent press conference, Boston President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens saying that the Celtics “want Hauser to be here for a long time” is a good indication a deal will get done.
